Sweet Heat Margarita

If you’re looking for the most stylish and tasty variations of the margarita for your upcoming Cinco de Mayo celebrations, try the El Pepino from La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This refreshing cocktail, crafted by the hotel’s Food & Beverage Director John Cuviello and Beverage Manager Sara Davis, strikes the perfect balance between sweetness and spice.

La Fonda on the Plaza’s El Pepino

Serving Size: 1 Drink

Ingredients:
– 3 slices of jalapeño, muddled
– 1.5 oz. blanco tequila
– 0.75 oz. orange liqueur
– 1 oz. honeydew jalapeño shrub
– 1 oz. fresh lime juice
– Tajin seasoning and a lime wedge for the rim
– An extra lime wedge for garnish

Directions:
1. Moisten the rim of a cocktail glass with a lime wedge and dip it into Tajin seasoning.
2. Fill the glass with ice.
3. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, orange liqueur, honeydew jalapeño shrub, and fresh lime juice.
4. Shake and strain the mixture into the prepared glass.
5. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy.
